E.S attended our program back in 2014. It has been a two years journey where she has vented about the abuse experienced at the hands of her ex-husband and father of her daughter. E.S has been able to gain consciousness about the unique dynamics of domestic violence and in her efforts she has also been able to build her toolbox of resources, coping mechanisms and healthy outlets in order for her to live a life free of violence. Throughout this journey, E.S. has taken decisions for her to reach the liberation she has longed for such as, divorcing her abuser, gaining employment, applying to get her citizenship and planning a new beginning for her as well as her daughter. Furthermore, E.S. actively participated in a Leadership Empowerment Training offered at our program in order to be a co-facilitator in workshops offered in our community and to also be of support to other women she might come across who need the support and guidance. This initiative allows E.S to give back to her community and to women in general. E.S has grown significantly and will continue to do so-she continues to find herself on her own terms, by herself, for herself.
